Kangwon Lee

Senior Vice President of R&D, SKT, Korea


Kang-Won Lee is a Senior Vice President of R&D at SK Telecom. He is directing technology development in the areas of Network & IT convergence. Specific areas of focus are software-defined data center (SDDC), software-defined networks (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and network analytics using Big Data technologies.
Before SK Telecom, he worked at IBM Watson Research Center in NY for 14 years. At IBM he led technology development in the area of big data analysis, wireless networking, and cloud computing. He developed policy-based configuration analyzer for IBM TPC SAN manager. His team developed major features for Informix, SPSS, G2, Tivoli Netcool products.
Kang-Won authored 100+ technical articles in premier conferences and journals. He serves technical community as a technical society president, advisor, editor, program chair, keynote speaker, and proposal reviewer. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UIUC and a MS and a BS in Computer Engineering from Seoul National University. He is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and an IBM Master Inventor.
